Spring has Sprung and the school year is coming to an end.
Some things that we have been learning:
- Readers Workshop: We continue to enjoy the many story's the Journey's program has. We are learning how to "dig deeper" when reading and find evidence in text. We are also reading a core novel "Charlotte's Web and getting reading to see the play. We have already watched the movie and can't wait to make a comparison chart of the book, play and movie.
- Writers Workshop: We have been doing a lot of writing! In the mornings students have a journal prompt to write about in their journal's. These are short responses that include reasons and examples that support their opinion. Students love to share what they wrote. We are also in the process of writing realistic fiction stories!
- Math: Math goes by so fast!! Students enjoy "playing teacher" as they figure out new strategies using the SMART board and collaborate with one another to help figure out problems using different strategies learned in class.
- Social Studies: We will be learning about our government so that students can understand the importance of how our country works and how it effects our everyday lives.
- Science: We have been very busy in Science. We have been learning about living and non-living things. We will be doing an up-close observation of caterpillars and the change that takes place before they become beautiful butterfly's. The students are very excited for Science everyday!
Needless to say we are very busy!...But we are enjoying EVERY minute of our day.
